What is a tenancy agreement?
A tenancy agreement is a contract between you (tenant) and landlord. It sets out rules for renting property.
Your rights as tenant:
- ✅ Safe and habitable property
- ✅ Privacy (landlord needs notice to enter)
- ✅ Return of deposit (if no damage)
- ✅ Quiet enjoyment of property
Your responsibilities:
- Pay rent on time
- Keep property clean
- Don't damage property
- Allow landlord access (with notice)
Security deposit:
- Maximum 2 months rent (for tenancy <2 years)
- Must be returned within 14 days after moving out
- Can be deducted for damage/unpaid rent

Can I break tenancy agreement early?

Is stamping tenancy agreement mandatory?
Yes, legally required. Unstamped agreements not admissible in court. Tenant typically pays stamp duty.
