Frequently Asked Questions
I transferred money to a scammer. Can I get it back?
Report to NSRC (15999) and your bank IMMEDIATELY. If reported within 24 hours and the funds haven't been withdrawn, there's a good chance of recovery. The bank will investigate and may refund if you followed security protocols.
The scammer has my IC number. What should I do?
Make a police report immediately. Monitor your credit report through CCRIS. Alert your bank to watch for suspicious activity. Consider filing a report with JPN if you suspect identity theft.
I received a suspicious call but didn't transfer money. Should I still report?
Yes! Report to NSRC (15999) or MCMC Aduan. This helps authorities track scam patterns and warn others. Block the number on your phone.
How do I check if an online store is legitimate?
Check for: physical address, phone number, customer reviews, social media presence, and secure payment methods. Search the store name + 'scam' online. Use platforms with buyer protection (Shopee, Lazada) instead of direct transfers.
Can I report scams anonymously?
Yes, MCMC Aduan allows anonymous reports. However, providing your contact details helps authorities follow up if they need more information. NSRC reports require your details for bank coordination.
